Solaqua
Homes
is the next incubator business to launch at Solaqua
Power & Art. Solaqua Homes will integrate solar/renewable
energy systems and sustainable materials to create
net-positive buildings. A net positive building produces
more energy then it consumes. Sustainable design principals
with renewable energy systems complement architecture,
environment, and lifestyle.
Solaqua
Homes will be fabricated at the
Solaqua Power & Art site to
control costs, mitigate waste streams,
control the construction environment
and streamline production. Centralized
production at the mill also supports
the creation of green collar jobs
and local economic development.
Solaqua Homes is actively working
with LEEDS-accredited architects
and engineers to design affordable
houses that incorporate renewable
energy systems for electricity,
heating and cooling. The initial
plans propose the integration of
solar, radiant floor heating, and
household recycling systems to
compost waste and reuse gray water.
Customized exterior and interior finishes are an integral
part of personalizing each home, with handcrafted custom
cabinetry, countertop and flooring options by Solaqua
Center artisans working in glass, metal, ceramics and
wood. Energy Star® rated kitchen appliances, lighting,
and water-saving plumbing are included.
