Solaqua
Power & Art is developing a Green
Business Incubator to identify and nourish start-up
businesses in renewable energy
technologies. Solaqua collaborates with regional and
statewide agencies and schools to foster economic development,
workforce training, and the creation of “green
collar” jobs.
Solaqua is seeking innovative start-ups to take advantage
of the accessible location for LEED product distribution,
at the center of a 500-mile radius that includes New
York City, Boston, Toronto, Philadelphia, and Washington,
DC.
• Launched in 2006, SunDog Solar is the first renewable
energy business at Solaqua. Includes warehousing, distribution,
sales and marketing.
• Attract Industrial Arts Foundry Operators and Artisans,
utilizing recycled materials, with high-energy consumption
needs. Provide opportunities for workspace with low-cost
renewable energy supplied by Solaqua.
• Develop a Solar Thermal Center featuring demonstrations,
manufacturing, and workforce training.
• Develop energy-efficient “net-positive” Solaqua
Homes, pre-fabricated in the mill.
• Provide opportunities for artisan apprenticeships
and internships for students studying renewable energy,
business development, and environmental sciences.
