This is an exhilarating time to become involved in this exciting project.
Every day we are developing new relationships with people who are interested in participating in the varied aspects of SOLAQUA Power & Art. We are working closely with NYSERDA (NY State Energy Research & Development Authority). With their help, we will be installing a large-scale solar photovoltaic system in the coming months. We intend to become a showplace for NYSERDA's renewable energy technologies - solar, hydrogen, and hydropower. Ed Knott, a renewable energy pioneer, licensed electrician, and certified solar PV (photovoltaic) installer, will be overseeing and helping to design the installation of a sculptural solar array that will supply power and inspiration.

We are already involved with The Fields Sculpture Park at ArtOmi, a public exhibition space for contemporary sculpture as well as an international residency program for artists, writers, and musicians. We are also working with the Chatham Village Historical Society, the Columbia-Berkshire Craft Guild, PS 21, the Columbia Land Conservancy, and the Columbia County Council on the Arts. Glassblowers, sculptors, furniture makers, photographers, a theatre company, a sound studio and a school are examples of those currently interested in making SOLAQUA Power & Art their future home. Are you? We welcome interest, ideas, questions, and curiosity. If you would like to learn more, please read our proposal. Or better yet, contact us to arrange a tour at

Are you interested in renewable energies? The arts? Seeing abandoned factories and mills transformed into vibrant centers for learning, creating and sharing? SOLAQUA Power & Art is engaged in the adaptive reuse of an old paper mill that will transform the way we think about renewable energies and the arts.
